I wanted to create something fun for my baby to enjoy outside. A place just for play, observing, and spending time outdoors. I found this playhouse and bench in facebook marketplace and instantly knew it had sooo much potential.
Facebook marketplace find $25.

After priming everything, I left it white for a bit while deciding how to place the colors.
We primed the bench white as well.

The colors, however, were not what I expected. The main color was labeled as “spring grass”, but once I opened the can I saw that it looked more yellow. I didn’t want to make a Home Depot run and buy more paint, so we got right to it. I wasn’t loving it, but the more I looked at it, I realized it actually feels playful and cheerful, I think my baby will probably love it even more than the calm neutral I imagined.

The color for the roof and bench ended up in a brown tone that reminds me of Mexican barro, which we both loved instantly.
One of my favorite parts of this project is that I didn’t buy anything new to start. I’m using paint that we already had at home. Paint that I honestly forgot we had. It made the project feel really fun and low pressure.
Now im in the stage of figuring out how to make it all come together. Im thinking small curtains for windows, colorful flowers for the pot holders, and other small details that will come to me along the way. I’m loving how naturally it is evolving, and I’m so excited to see what it turns into as we keep adding to it.
This project isn’t finished yet, but it already feels like a space we are going to use often. A place where my baby, his cousins, and his friends will make lots of memories in.
